India: New dormitory built in India’s southern city of Kolkata

A new dormitory has been built in Kolkatas southern city Kolkati.

The facility was inaugurated by the State Housing Development Corporation and was inaugurated by Kolkataram Mayor Sanjay Kumar on Monday, said D. Rajeev Dhawan, MD, Development & Land Development, Kolkatan Housing Development Authority.

It is part of a planned project to build three new dormitories and four office buildings in the city of about 1 million.

The project will help address the shortage of housing in Kota in the coming years.

“This is a major development for Kolkatis urban environment,” Dhawan told India Real Time.

“It is also a signal to the rest of India that there is a big demand for affordable housing in the country,” he added.
