A group of superheroes will be arriving at Vancouver’s airport this week, bringing a bit of summer fun to the city.
The Air Canada Center announced Thursday that the superheroes will play a special role in the festivities, including a mini-theme song by the hip-hop duo The Game.
The theme song, titled “Canada in Summer,” features songs by the Hip-Hop duo The Notorious B.I.G. and Common, along with other Canadian artists.
It’s the latest in a string of summer festivities at the airport.
In June, The Game’s hip-hoppin’ hit “Can’t Touch This” topped the Canadian charts, selling more than 1.7 million copies.
“We are thrilled to be coming to Vancouver and joining forces with such an iconic group of musicians to celebrate summer fun,” said Air Canada president and CEO Chris Hays.
“They’re a huge group, and their song speaks for itself.”
The group’s debut album, “Canvas” is expected to sell more than 200,000 copies.
As part of the festivities this week on the tarmac, fans will be able to purchase a limited edition Air Canada logo T-shirt and be treated to an all-day experience.
“Our theme song will be featured throughout the festivities on a large screen and in a small, outdoor venue.
We will also have special interactive activities that include a basketball hoop, basketball and hockey games, a balloon race and more,” said Dan McLeod, executive director of the airport’s Tourism and Convention Authority.
The music will be performed by The Game, who has been in the spotlight for his work on the band The Gameplay.
The band’s last album, 2011’s “Canopy,” was released in Canada.
The group has performed at the University of Victoria, the University at Buffalo, the Air France Arena in Paris, the Canadian Tire Centre in Montreal and the Royal Canadian Legion in Ottawa.
