A student from a Delhi college who raped an 18-year-old girl in her dormitory said he has “no regrets” and was “very happy” to go to jail after he was arrested in July.
The accused, a student from Jain College, was arrested on the charge of rape after a complaint from a victim who was 18 at the time of the incident.
The woman, who cannot be named, told the police that the accused had forced himself on her and raped her on a campus balcony in August 2016.
She told police that he was her student’s host at the college and was studying in the engineering college.
The college’s administration and the Delhi Police had lodged an FIR on the complaint and arrested the accused at a nearby police station.
In July, the complainant filed a complaint against the accused on behalf of the victim, who was staying with her parents in the campus housing.
According to police, the accused confessed to the rape and also confessed to sexually assaulting the woman.
The complainant, however, did not file an FIR.
The accused was released on bail.
The Delhi Police said that they had arrested the man for sexual assault after he lodged a complaint with them.
